Alliance on Aging has been providing free services for Monterey County Seniors since 1970. Information and referral, tax counseling, home sharing, health insurance counseling and advocacy, friendly visitor support, senior peer counseling, and senior employment.

The Alzheimer's Association is the largest voluntary health organization in the country with the dual mission of conquering Alzheimer's disease through research and enhancing care and support for people with the disease, their families, and caregivers.

Ombudsman is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for seniors in long-term care facilities. They investigate complaints on behalf of these residents and provide placement information to those seeking long-term care.

The Area Agency on Aging advocates for the 60+ population in Monterey County and is the lead agency for senior issues, providing $2 million to community-based service agencies for seniors. An advisory council -- the Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council -- oversees the Area Agency and reports to the Monterey County Board of Supervisors.

Legal Services for Seniors provides free consultation and representation for Monterey County residents age 60 or older. Priorities are Social Security and Medicare, housing rights, public benefits (SSI, Medi-Cal) and elder abuse. Assistance with landlord/tenant disputes, consumer protection, and Advance Directives for Health Care.

At Meals on Wheels, we want to be a bright spot in your day. Meals on Wheels promotes a better quality of independent living and addresses the nutritional needs of people who are homebound, elderly or disabled, and who are unable to shop for or prepare their own meals. Volunteers deliver affordable, nutritious meals right to their home.
